The night I actually enjoyed the drag show

New Year's Eve 2006 (or is it 2005?). Oh-holy-crap! My best New Year's Eve EVER.

Scott and I started out the evening unsure of what we wanted to do. We decided to go to dinner and decide while we ate. We figured a movie would be nice so we checked the times for, what else, "Brokeback Mountain." We drove over to the ONLY theatre showing it only to find out that it was closed. Closed on New Year's Eve?! Yes, yes it was.

So, we started aimlessly driving around. We talked about going to the Tavernacle-a fun, smoke-free, dueling piano bar when Adam texted us, "Subliminal message: You will come to Sound tonight. End of Subliminal message." You see, he had called both of us earlier to ask what our plans were. When he said we should both come to (Club) Sound with him (and his Boyfriend, David-did you know he has a boyfriend, his name is David.) Scott and I balked. We hate loathe despise Sound. The last time we were there was with Adam and it was probably THE WORST NIGHT EVER!

But, as we were driving around I said, "You know, if was truly smashed, I just might consider going to Sound. Really, it's the only way I could tolerate it." We called Adam, told him to pick us up and headed to the liquor store. It was closed. (It was only 8:30.) We figured that we were just not destined to have a good night.

Instead, we headed to the grocery store to see what we could find there and purchased some cheerleader beer for Scott's benefit. We went back to my house and drank up. We left for the club around 10:30.

Neither of us were expecting much and walked in with strong reservations. Of course, the very first person we ran into was my gay boyfriend from high school. We ordered our drinks and sat down to wait for Adam. While we were drinking, someone ran up to me and yelled my name. Turns out a guy I went to high school with recently came out and was there with some of his gay friends. It was so surreal to see him. But I've added another gay man to my list! Yay!

The highlight of the evening was watching Scott make out with some random guy. Right before midnight, we went to the restroom. As I was waiting for Scott, this guy came out and said to me, "You're awesome! You are just SO awesome!"

"You're awesome too!" I replied.

"I'm so drunk! Can you tell? You're so awesome!" said he.

"Yeah, I can."

"Why are you here?" he asked.

"I'm here with one of my gay boyfriends. There is my one from high school. And here is my one now," I said as Scott walked out.

"That's awesome!" he said, then turned to talk to Scott.

The next thing I knew, they were kissing. I didn't know what else to do but laugh.

And laugh I did.

When they finished kissing, Scott immediately threw up. Another guy started rubbing his head and neck as he threw up in the trash can.

Again, I laughed.

When he was finished, we ran over to the drag show for the countdown to the new year. I've never been impressed with the drag show at Sound but I quite enjoyed the half-naked boys dancing this time.

With my ADD kicking in (and seeing Scott's ex) we went back to the dance floor and danced for the rest of the evening. They played great music (Cher, Britney, AND Kelly!) but we laughed more than we danced. (You see, whenever we go to the club, Jesse, Scott and I make fun of other people dancing by dancing like them. Is it mean? Of course. Do we care? No, not really.)

It really was the most fun I've ever had at the club as well as the best New Year's Eve I've had.

While I may not be able to top that, I decided that night what I'm going to do for next year. I plan on throwing a party. I'll start putting the word out around Thanksgiving and just invite a ton of people.

So, if you're around Utah next year, let me know. I can't promise Scott will make out with you, but I can promise he'll make out with someone. Because he's hot and if you're hot, that's all that matters.

And, we'll watch him and laugh together.
