What kind of message is this sending?

I'm going to apologize up front for not having comments cause I know the next few posts are going to generate a few. If you'd like to send me your thoughts, email me and I'll post them.

I love Sundance. I was thinking last night about my involvement with the festival over the years. Last year was the first year that I focused on just seeing films and not on volunteering or something else. I really enjoyed it.

This year, due to financial constraints, I'm back to volunteering (not that there's anything wrong with that). And, due to my friendship with Adam, am able to attend a super fun (and super gay) party with pretty people! I will be spending most of my Sundance time at the Queer Lounge which is the real reason of this post.

Click on the that link. Nothing bad will happen and the site is completely safe for work. Do you see what comes up? Queer Lounge sponsored by Absolut Vodka. Now, I've been to many gay events and know that alcohol plays a large role at them. When I helped with Utah Pride, it was sponsored by Bud Light.

But why? What is this saying exactly? That you can't be a proper gay person and not be drunk? That, being gay also means enjoying alcohol all the time?

I understand corporate sponsorships completely. (Hell, at work, we want Energy Solutions to sponsor one of our events. Not that I dislike Energy Solutions; I'm just making a point, Darci). But why always alcoholic beverages seem to be sponsors of the gay events? To make them more fun? To ensure all the gays "go home happy?"

You all realize that this is just perpetuating stereotypes and that SOMEDAY, a Constitutional Amendment will just have to be made to forbid all this nonsense and ensure that we are all living God's word.
