One would think that all gay men are a part of the fashion police. Well, some of the ones I know are, except for Jesse. He is the Supreme Commander of the Grammer Mafia. Seig Heil!
Jesse has this odd obsession with saying adverbs correct-ly. He often corrects people mid-sentence if they say an adverb wrong-ly. It's annoying yet total-ly hilarious at the same time.
I mean, who cares?! Will someone tell me why it matters if I say "Drive safe" instead of "Drive safely"? No one cares!! Except for Jesse.
I'm not really sure where this obsession came from. He says he just likes people to speak grammar correct-ly, but I think it's his "superiority-complex" -- that he has to look smarter than everyone around him. It's kinda like those girls in high school who act really dumb, even though you know they're not, so all the guys will pay attention to them. Jesse always has to have the final word in any argument (so does Brian, they are SO perfect for each other) and only
his opinion is valid. I'm so used to it now that I don't even argue anymore, I just let him have his way.
I love how he will often interrupt someone while they are talking and say, "How are you going to do that? Quick? Or quickly?" Then he laughs at them-very rude-ly!
It is not often that Brian gets to correct Jesse's grammar. I think he's so annoyed with it that he just ignores it. But recent-ly, Jesse said something like, "That smells badly." Brian said, "No, it smells bad. You are using the word incorrect-ly." As usual, they got into a "discussion" about they proper form. It soon blew over (because Brian was right) and we all had a good laugh at Jesse's expense.
But still, I really wonder what the big deal is. I mean, is God going to smite us down if we do not speak correct-ly? Is someone really not going to drive safe-ly if you tell them to "Drive safe"? Does that cheese smell bad or bad-ly? Will Jesse stop being my friend if I speak incorrect-ly?
I don't think so, but from now on, I am SO driving safe-ly!!
