There is a debate amongst some of the people I work with about this intern at the office. A few of us thinks he's gay even though he INSISTS he is not. So tell me what you think.
What we know about him:
He is 18, just graduated from a high school in Davis County.
His home life is not so great.
He is going to college in Canada called Queens University. His first year will be spent in England however and he is very excited about that.
He likes indie music.
His favorite movie is "Brokeback Mountain."
He reminds me of Shawn.
He likes philosophy and "emo" stuff.
His dad is in prison.
He was raised by his step-dad.
He now lives with his step-mom.
He has latched onto me for some bizarre reason over the last 2 weeks and always tags along with me to lunch.
He gets along really well with the women in the office.
Hmmmm, just wondering...

Oh noes! They're coming to get us!
I realize I haven't posted in a long time (3 months to be exact) and while I do have some half-written posts waiting to be published, I do need to get this one out of the way.
Some of you have heard about a State Rep in Oklahoma and her homophobic remarks recently. Well, it seems that since it's an election year, homophobia is back on the attack.
From Think Progress:
The American Family Association (AFA) has joined in promoting this myth of the evil gay agenda in a new video called “They’re Coming To Your Town.” The poster advertising the DVD appears to have a menacing rainbow-like lights in background. PageOneQ summarizes the trailer for the video:
The presentation in the AFA trailer…”They’re Coming to Your Town,” tells the tale of an uncharacteristically diverse resort town’s government infiltrated by “a handful of homosexual activists” and bent to their will through the enactment of the town’s domestic partner registry on June 22, 2007.
“Watch, and learn,” says the trailer, “how to fight a well-organized gay agenda to take over the cities of America, one city at a time.”
This is funny and sad at the same time, although hardly surprising. I just don't understand how people come up with these INSANE ideas.

Happy Ferris Wheel Day! And to the New Mexicans, Happy Extraterrestrial Culture Day!
It's not that I hate despise loathe Valentine's Day, it's that I don't like people assuming and pointing out that I can only be happy if I'm in a relationship. I revel in my singleness. There is nothing wrong with being single. In fact, it's quite a blessing. I mean, I don't have to please anyone else. I get to choose for myself what movies to see and what to eat for dinner. I don't get in silly little arguments with someone about silly little things (except for the voices in my head, but that's another story...).
Anywho, today I bring you some of the best "Valentine's Day" posts from my blog world. Enjoy!

Karl Rove gets schooled by a high schooler
Karl Rove dodged the question of who is threatened by gay marriage at a recent high school forum.
From Think Progress:
Spivak kept pressing. “You never actually answered, how does it threaten anyone?” she asked.
Rove asked, what’s the compelling reason to throw out 5,000 years of understanding the institution of marriage as between a man and a woman?
What, Spivak countered, was the compelling reason for society to allow interracial relationships when they had once been outlawed.
Then Rove invoked the Declaration of Independence before Spivak interjected that its reference to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” seemed to support her claims.
