Living in Utah has its ups and downs. One of the downs is our extremely right-wing legislature. I've seen up close the inner workings of our esteemed legislature and I can assure that it is indeed as conservative as you have heard.
One of the ups is that we have two openly gay legislators. Both are good friends of mine and it disgusts me when they or any of my friends or anybody who is gay are targets for hateful and extreme-right legislation.
This week, Utah's dear State Senator, C. Buttars, decides he wants to attack gay youth. You know, the ones in high school who are just discovering themselves and finally feeling (somewhat) comfortable with who they are. I'm sure you all have stories of your high school days whether you were in or out of the closet at the time. High school is a traumatic experience in itself and we don't need to have students targeted and labeled immoral and evil simply because of who they are.
Well, maybe Buttars' arguments are valid. I mean, we surely don't want to recognize that gay people exist let alone talk about them. The horror!
Seriously, do they really think teachers are going to teach kids how to be gay in GSA clubs? (I mean, because that is how you become gay). Oh no! We might actually teach kids about how to have healthy, safe relationships. The downfall of society is beginning!
You gays just need to stop trying to take over the world. But, you can still decorate it!

2 things you gotta say:
Ooh. Everything un-utah makes people gay, didnt you know? Come move out to the east coast so you can live amongst those crazy evil liberals who want to convert everyone to paganism.... hehe. Don't get me started on the Bush admin and the republican party... *sigh*.
I think he is a closet case that is trying to force everyone else to feel bad about themself so he isn't the only one. That is all we need is another person to make a gay youth feel bad about who they are. I guess there aren't enough people in this world who already do that, it is time to get the Government involved.
